The Governor of Baalbek-Hermel, Bachir Khodor, launched the solar lighting project in the town of Nahle, funded by the Lebanese Association for Agricultural and Social Development (OSAD), in the presence of the association’s president, Dr. Hani Khouri, Mr. Abdo Shakir, and social figures from the region. The lighting project launch followed the signing of a cooperation protocol between Governor Bachir Khodor, acting mayor of Nahle, and Dr. Hani Khouri for the establishment of a solar lighting network for the town of Nahle, after the efforts and coordination of Mr. Abdo Jisour Shakir with the association. The governor, Khodor Shukr, thanked those responsible for this project and said: As a personal matter and as the acting mayor of Nahle, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project, which serves to improve the daily living conditions of citizens regardless of the project’s size. We are striving for development, and it is essential in these circumstances that these towns enjoy at least a minimum level of night lighting in the absence of electricity. For his part, the president of the association, Dr. Hanna Khoury, said: We inaugurate a solar-powered lighting network project in the town of Nahle, funded by the Lebanese Association for Agricultural and Social Development (OSAD) with the participation of Governor Bashir Khodor and in cooperation with the coordinator in the town, Abdo Jisour Shaqir. We believe that development is the true name of peace, especially when it pertains to lighting, to the light that dispels darkness. He added: We still dream of building a model homeland that is characterized by peace and tranquility, and what qualifies us for all excellence is the will, the will for peace, and to put our resources in the service of development.
